Victoria is the capital city of British Columbia province and
Western Canada's oldest city. The City began in 1843 as a Hudson Bay Company
trading post, named in honour of Queen Victoria. About 300,000 people make
their home in the Greater Victoria area.

This park offers views of 600 year old Douglas fir and western red cedar,
western yew, red alder, big leaf maple, western hemlock , black
cottonwood, the flowering dogwood, lodgepole pine and arbutus. The
arbutus, with its thick leathery evergreen leaves, red-dish trunk and peeling
bark, is Canada's only broad-leafed evergreen and is found exclusively on
Vancouver Island and on the southwest coast of British Columbia.
